Hi Chad,
In response to William 1801 England, yes there are several sons of William's (1801) that we are unsure of the names. It is rumored throughout the family that William 1801 had seven sons and one daughter. That could be proven incorrect with further investigation.William's wife's name was AGNES BRIAR or BRYAR (or a form of the name.) She is supposed to have come from Scotland. Here is the supposed children of William 1801 and AGNES. There is a:
(1)Edward-my 3 great grandfather
(2)William
(3)Peter
(4)George
(5)Thomas
(6)unknown
(7)unknown
William and Agnes never came to America.
One of their sons Edward (or James Edward)(found it spelled different ways)and his wife Isabella Dawson are the ones who came over in 1875.Jacob could be a brother? Was he born in England? All of William 1801's children were born in England. My 3 great grandfather Edward was born March 16,1850 in Wigan, Lancashire England. I know for a fact that other members of the Layland family came to America before 1875 and settled in the northern states. They must be cousins or something. I sure hope we have a comman ancestor. If anything sounds familiar to you or you have any questions feel free to contact me.
Thanks,
