Did your Robert Layfield b1815 have a son George b1853 who married Anne. One of their many children was William James b1885 who married Agnes Towers Rigg at Ulverston.
William James is buried at Onchan Isle of Man.died 1948.
I have Layfield relatives in The Isle of Man - Richard b1778/9 Whitehaven and wife Isabella.
It's a very unusual name for the Isle of Man and just wondered if there might be a connection. Richard moved to the Isle of Manbetween between 1824 and 1827, from Whitehaven.
Your people seemed to have gone to the Barrow area which isn't that far from Whitehaven, but Layfield is a more common name in Cumbria.
