Peggy contacted me sometime back and this is the information I gave her:
The Leenora/Lenoria Lay you seek was the daughter of Harrison Lay. Harrison Lay was the son of Burrell Lay and Leannah Newell. He was born in Somerset (Pulaski County) KY in ca 1825 and was married first to Susan Woolsey. They moved to Lincoln Co MO and eventually Harrison joined the Confederate army.I have lost track of Susan and their children and can not find them after 1860.Harrison later married Nancy Mack Weathers in Arkansas who had previously been married to Napoleon Bonaparte Donaldson.Harrison and Nancy moved back to Nancy's home town in Lauderdale County, Alabama.Harrison and Nancy had three daughters:
1) Lenoria A. b 1866 in Arkansas (whom I had been unable to trace until Peggy contacted me - Peggy knew that she had married Joneous Simpson "Simp" Smith and had moved to Eastland Co, TX),
2) Mary Frances "Frank" b 1868 in Alabama who married Andrew Grisham and is my great grandmother, and
3) Sarah B. b 1871 in Alabamawho married R.E. Scoggins.I think that Sarah B. is the same person as "Bettie Scoggins" who was living in Elmont, Limestone County, AL in 1917, and is listed in Harrison Lay's third wife's (Elizabeth "Bettie" McCartney Lay's) estate papers.
