I'm trying to get a copy of The Lay of the Land... looking for my Lay ancestry.
I'm from Lewis Renfro MILES m. Nancy M. LAY (b. 1864 TN, d. 1939/40 OR).
Her parents: Peter LAY, b. 1837 d. 1908 & Rebecca CROLEY
Peter's parents: Rev. Spencer LAY, b. 1811 d. 1883 & Lucinda "Lucy" PERKINS, b. 1815 d. 1904
Spencer's parents: John Michael "Missouri Jack" LAY, b. 1770, d. Rachel FOLEY 1874 & b. 1789 d. 1879
John's parents: Jesse Duncan LAY & Catherine BRADLEY
Jesse's parents: Jesse Valley LAY & Hannah GIBSON
Jesse's parents: John LAY& Martha SLADE
I'm also related to the LAYs through another connections to Permelia "Millie" Jane MILES, d. 1928 m. Thomas L. LAY, (son of Rev. Spencer LAY and Lucy PERKINS)... Permelia J. MILES' father was Elijah MILES, in my direct line. I am descended from Permelia's brother Chesley "Chester" H. MILES, b. 1843 who married Nancy Ann VANDERPOOL, b. 1837.
I have not confirmed all these connections, but I'd like to start getting the documentation. Are these lines verified?
I understand they may have been, in this book?
Thanks for your help,
Cousin Lisa
