In connection with your follow up of December 4, 1998, in connection with the above subject matter, could you possibly share with me some additional information on the family of Charles Middleton Lay? I find that the information you provided in your follow up to be more than a coincidence. For example: Charles Freedom Lay first moved from South Carolina to Canton, Georgia. Sarah Lay [mine]was born in South Carolina. Canton is the county seat of Cherokee County, Georgia. At one point in time prior to the Civil War, Valentine, Sarah and family lived in Cherokee County. After they relocated in Gordon County, Georgia, this was just a move across to an adjoining county. Another example: Charles Freedom's move to Fulton, Mississippi. Subsequent to the death of Valentine and the close of the Civil War, Sarah andher children [all but one had reached majority age and were married] left Gordon County and moved to Itawamba County, Mississippi, of which Fulton was and still is the county seat. The only problem is the year Charles Freedom was born [1808]. Valentine's Sarah was born in 1810. Is it possible that Charles Fredom could have been born in an earlier year? I realize that this is conjecture on my part; however, I think that it is worth looking into. Any additional information that you might provide me would be greatly appreciated.
