Dear Fellow Laxers, I too am curious about the Laxer family tree. My grandfather's name was Herman (Harry) Laxer and he emigrated to Canada from Rumania in the late 1800s. He lived in Vancouver, British Columbia where he was first a factor fro the Hudson's Bay Compnay and later had his own internatinal fur business. Unfortunately, the stock market crash of 1929 wiped him out and he died of a heart attack in 1931. I have visited his grave in North Burnaby, B.C. but he poassed away long before I was born. My father was Benjamin Laxer and he grew up basically in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He had one brother, Laurence, who died following the second world war. My father was a soldier, first with the Canadian army and then as a "Canloan" officer in the British Army. He retired from the army and sold furniture, eventually opening his own furniture store. He passed away in 1989. I live in Key West Florida where I edit a newspaper, host a Karaoke show, DJ and coordinate weddings (Anything artsy to afford living on this very expensive island!). I have one son named Benjamin for my dad. I have a sister, Claire, who is a teacher in Winnipeg, a brother, Ian, who is a lawyer in Winnipeg and sometimes economic professor in Montreal and a brother, Ron, who is a lawyer in Toronto. If you are a Laxer with more pieces of the family tree, I'd love to hear from you. Notify Administrator about this message?
