I don't know if this will help or not but I'll give you what I have. I have a William Lawton in my tree, however, they came from Wigan, Lancashire, England. My Great Grandfather, Thomas Lawton, settled in Alleghany County, PA. I believe he arrived in the US in 1883 at age of 39. He lived in Buena Vista and Elizabeth, both in Alleghany County, PA. Robert Lawton, b. 1802 & his wife, Catherine Norris, b about 1800, had a daughter, Jane, b. about 1837 (sister to Anne Lawton, Anne is the mother of my Great Grandfather, Thomas) Jane married Thomas Porter, b. about 1838. Their first son was named Robert Lawton. He married Margaret Norton. Robert and Margaret had a son, Thomas. Thomas married Mary E. Freeman. Thomas and Mary had a son, William. Perhaps William went to Alleghany County, PA, because he knew there were other Lawtons living there and perhaps were relatives. I don't have any dates other than what I have listed. Let me know if any of this helps or if I can provide other information. Notify Administrator about this message?
