A few years ago I was visiting Essex, RI and came across two Lawton grave stones. They are inscribed as follows:
Edward Lawton, died 3-22-1823, aged 70 years
His wife Ann Green, dau of Peleg Green & Febe Dier, died 10-29-1824, aged 67 years. Their daus. Elizabeth, died 11-5-1810, aged 25 years; Mary, died 6-27-1814, aged 18 years.
Stephen Douglas Lawton 7-16-1861 - 12-31-1948
Elmer E. Hazard 1868-1944, his wife, Mary R. Lawton 1868-1952
The graves were in a church cemetery but I don't remember the name of the church now. The stones are of a more modern design.
