I am looking for information on a Lawson family that were living in Toronto Ontario Canada in the early 1900's. They came over from Walsall, England sometime after 1902. The father was William, his wife was Edith Lillian (nee Davies). They had five children, Evelyn May that married a William Wilshaw, Eliza Jane that married a Arthur Howard Phillips, William Cyril that married an Agnes Simpson, Joseph Edward that married a Gladys Ellerby, and Winnifred (Winifred) Lilian (Lillian)that married a George Haacke in 1919. Edith Lillian died in 1933, her husband William was listed as the informant on her death certificate. George Haacke and Winnifred Lawson were my grandparents. they had 9 children, the first 3 including a set of twins died soon after birth. My father was the seventh child and was born in 1929. The youngest was born about 1933. Winnifred (Winnie) left the family in 1934. The youngest 5 children spent time in an orphanage, and were later returned home to be raised by their father and a step-mother. Gossip is George and Winnie divorced, she moved to Buffalo, New York remarried and had more children. George Haacke passed away in 1956 and any secrets went with him. My father had no memories of his mother and didn't know her name until I became interested in genealogy. He passed away in 2001 never knowing what had happened to his mother. I'm still trying to find out, any information would be appreciated. Pat Notify Administrator about this message?
