I have been looking over the Salathial and Mary Cook Martin Revolutionaly War pension file.Salathial moved to Hawkins County before 1800 and that part of Hawkins County became Claiborne County about 1806.The file contains a statement from David Lawson of Scott County indicating that he lived near Salathial Martin in both North Carolina and Tennessee.David Lawson moved to East Tennessee in 1793.In a statement dated 11 July 1851 from Scott County, TN, he said that he was 86 years old and was born in 1765 in Amherst County, Virginia. It seems to be that he was the 1840 Claiborne County David Lawson, and perhaps the Hawkins County David Lawson that appears in county records before 1800.This may indicate that the Lee County David Lawson was not the Hawkins County David Lawson.
