I'm sorry Karen I can't help you but my "gut" feelings say that Mary & Meshack Laws could somehow connect to John Laws born say 1750s who came to Knox Co. KY (from NC?) in 1806 (tax lists) & is in 1810 census there along with son Thomas. Thomas had a brother named Meshack who shows there also in 1830 census with family. I have almost nothing on the Laws but I'm from Thomas (b. 1777/80) & Tabitha Laws. Those names came from a family Bible, family lore says they came from North Carloina. They lived on Greasy Creek in what it now Bell Co. KY. (Bell formed from part of Knox in 1867) They had sons William (m. Rebecca Watts), John (m. Betsy unknown), & Noah (m. Elizabeth Watts) & 4 daughters - Phoebe m. Cornelius Crank; Elizabeth m. Robert Mason; Rebecca m. unknown Evans; & 4th still unknown. I'm from Robert Mason & Elizabeth Laws. They lived on Clear Creek just over from Greasy Creek. There are still descendants there on the same farm today. All 3 sons of Thomas went to MO so...I would "guess" yours to connect to Meshack Laws then? But sadly I know nothing of his family. a law suit showing Thomas Laws had a brother Mashack - http://www.rootsweb.com/~kyknox/Court-Records/Laws-Crank.html I may be leading you down the wrong path but the name Meshack is not all that comman. I hate to give your hope then it doesn't pan out. I've gotten really nowhere on the Laws in 15 years either. Maybe you'll be the one to crack the brick wall? good luck!
