The information I have comes from a family Bible, but now I'm told by my research associate that the link between William H. and his father is purely speculative.I knew that there was no information given and that it required a "leap of faith" based upon the accuracy of the rest of the information, but thought it was a little more than "purely speculative."Anyway here's what the Bible said in a family tree; all but the link between William H. and his father has been verified in published genealogies and records of wills, census, etc.:
William H. Rittenhouse, b.abt1787, d.10 Jul 1848) Harrisburg, Dauphin, Pennsylvania, son of
William Rittenhouse, b.abt.1729, Creisham, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, son of
William B. Rittenhouse, b.abt 1695, Creisham, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, d.16 Mar 1767, Rosemont, Hunterdon, New Jersey, son of
Garret Rittenhouse, b.1674, Germantown, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, d.abt.19 Feb 1742, son of
Willem Rittenhouse (Ruttinghausen), b.1644, Mulheim-on-Ruhr, Germany, son of
Claes (or Nicholas) Ruttinghausen, b.1615, Mulheim-on-Ruhr
How does your information square with the first part of this?I'd be interested in knowing how you got from George T. back to William in 1820.All we need is a link between William and his father.
I have a photograph of a portrait of Abigail Lawrence and info on all of William H.'s fourteen children if you're interested.I'd have to email the photo to you. There are three of us working on this--all descendants of William H.'s children by Abigail Lawrence.I'm descended from his daughter Mary Elizabeth Rittenhouse.Let me know if you want more info and what you think about the info from the tree above and I'll send you my research notes.
