Lawrence family in Mercer Co., NJ

I was wondering if anyone has info on the ancestors/family of Samuel Lawrence, b. circa 1783 in or around Trenton. I've been researching my family tree and found mention that a grandmother was "from the Lawrence family for whom Lawrenceville, NJ was named" and I can't help but wonder if I'm related to Capt. James Lawrence from the War of 1812.
