Mr. Jones -

Have been researching the Lawrence family of Wilmington as my granddaughters are descended from this family. Have seen several postings that Jason Lawrence is the son of Asa, but have seen no supporting evidence. Have you?

In a trip to Weathersfield last summer found below information about an Asa Lawrence. From this, I believe that Asa's parents were John and Hannah Lawrence and that he had a brother, Prescott.

Weathersfield Town Records Bk. 4 pg. 450: "Prescott Lawrences Deed Know all men by these presents that I Asa Lawrence of Jay in the County of Essex and State of New York for the consideration of fifty dollars received to my full satisfatcion of Prescott Lawrence of Weathersfield....I Quit claim unto him the same Prescott his heirs and assigns all my Right title Interest legacy or sare of the estate... to wit my share or Dividend of the ??? of Hannah Lawrence late of Weathersfield deceased ... is the thirds of the said Hannah which was set to her as herthirds of the Real estate of her late Husband John Lawrence late of Weathersfield. 7 January 1814"

Windsor County Probate records September 12 1799, list Hannah Lawrence and Prescott Lawrence as the administrators of John Lawrence's estate.

On 30 Oct 1784 John Lawrence of Weathersfield bought property from Thos Pearsall of NY Bk 1 pg 327
John Lawrence first mentioned as petitioner in Weathersfield, VT signed in Spring of 1784. He lived on the West side of Weathersfield, possibly near Baltimore, VT.
Prescott Lawrence d. 10 Oct 1840, age 62 (age range of Asa)., buried Grout Cemetery, Weathersfield, VT

"The History of the Town of Baltimore, VT" by Annie M. Pollard, Assistant Town Clerk, Copyright 1954
Susan Martin, b. Lunenburg, MA, 1781 m. Asa Lawrence (moved to Jay, NY). Susan's parents: Ephraim Story Martin, bap 1745, d. 1833, Baltimore m. 18 Sep 1769 Mary Burnham, b. 1746, d. 1813.
Following siblings of Susan Martin Lawrence all moved to Jay, NY: brother Thomas & wife; sister Mahitable and husband Ira Boynton.

I would be curious to know your thoughts.
