Mary Lawrence of Muscatine, Iowa
Mary Lawrence married Samuel Phillips in Muscatine in 1859. She appears in the 1860 and 1870 censuses with Samuel and their children. In the 1880 census, he claims he's a widow, living with the children. I can't find a death record, an obituary or a burial place for her.
I believe Mary was the daughter of William Lawrence, who was born in England, married Sarah Disbro in Ohio and moved to Illinois and then to Muscatine, Ia. where he farmed, dying there in 1906. I can't find a death record or an obituary for him and the cemetery where he's buried has no further info on him.
I would love to correspond with anyone else who is researching this family because Mary is my brickwall and driving me batty. I'd be convinced that she's William's daughter but his 1879 biography says his daughter Mary married a Mr. Arnold and lives in Kansas............
(My email address has the letter L before the numbers 4 and 7; I was computer illiterate when I chose the email address).
