From the book written by my great, grandfather John Lawrence in 1869 "The Genealogy of the Family of John Lawrence of Wisset, England and Watertown and Groton, Massachusetts". It lists a Jacob, son of John, son of Thomas, son of Thomas. The date seems about right. I hope it helps.
JOHN, WILLIAM, AND THOMAS LAWRENCE, OF ST. ALBANS. ENGLAND, AND LONG ISLAND, N.Y., AND THE FAMILIES OF ISAAC AND WILLIAM LAWRENCE, OF NEW BRUNSWICK.
John, William, and Thomas Lawrence, brothers, said to be descended from John Lawrence deceased in 1538, and buried in the Abbey of Ramsey, England.
It is thought they were related to Henry Lawrence, b. in 1600, and Member of the Long Parliament, and afterward Lord President of Cromwell's Council.
JOHN LAWRENCE, the eldest brother, born at St. Albans, Hertfordshire, 1618, came over in ship "'Planter," and landed at Plymouth, Mass., 1635.
From this place be went to Ipswich, living there some years; and then to Long Island; and was made one of patentees of Hempstead by grant of Kieft, Governor.
Next he shared with brother William and others the patent of Flushing.
In 1658, he removed to New Amsterdam, and took up his residence. In 1674, he was Mayor of New York; also in 1691; and next was Judge of Supreme Court. He died 1699, leaving wife Susanna, by whom he had children, who, however, left no male issue.
The three brothers, and Henry Lawrence above named, were all descended from John Lawrence, who died in 1538, and was buried in the Abbey of Ramsey.
THOMAS LAWRENCE, youngest of the brothers, settled in Newtown, L.I. he was born about 1623, married, find had -

Thomas Sherwood, d. October, 1830; Mary, b. 1760, m. Philemon H. Fowler; Abigail, m. Thomas Sherwood.

Thomas, b. in Newtown; m., 1730, Deborah Woolsey, went to Westchester Co., N.Y., in 1748, where he died 1752, leaving a son, Thomas, b. 1732, and daughters. Thomas, son of Thomas, son of John and Deborah Woodhull, settled in Westchester Co.; m. Elizabeth Hadley; had children; served in the Revolutionary War, and was promoted, and died at Red Hook, Columbia Co., 1803.
IV. Daniel, b. in Newtown.
