Boy am I delighted!!!! to see your query!!I've been researching all branches of my Lawrence family for some 30 years, and Walter Lawrence happens to belong to one of those branches(not my direct line tho').I found info on him in the census a decade ago, and have gotten little snippets since then, but never found a descendant. This is great!I'll e-mail you directly, but as for your post:

Walter Lawrence was a son of David Lawrence (Larrance) born 1808 in Jefferson Co. TN, and his wife Nancy Ballenger, born also 1808 in TN.David was the youngest child of Richard Larrance (1771-1840) and Jane Hammond (1770-1852).Richard became a Quaker when he married Jane, and they moved from Randolph Co. NC to Jefferson Co. TN about 1809.In 1828-29 David Larrance/Lawrence, and his elder brother, John, left TN and went to Vermilion Co. Illinois.John remained there, but David kept on moving west.
