Lawles from Carlow

I am trying to trace a Michael Lawles (b approx 1831), a tailor, who first appears in the England census of 1851 as a visitor from Carlow staying in Oldham, Lancashire. In subsequent census the name is recorded as ending with double 's'. There may be a connection with an Annie M Lawles (b approx 1835), visitor from Ireland in the 1871 census in Chorlton-cum-Hardy Manchester. Many Thanks.
