Ok, I have checked out this forum and others. Been rolling happily along thinking much of the genealogy was mapped out for the Lawless/Lollis family until the other day.
My great grandfather was William A. Lollis b 1870 to Richard Cornelius Lawless/Lollis (various spellings thoughout census records).
Richards father was supposedly Augustus aka Augustine Lawless b 1787 Pittsylvania County, VA and mother Temperance Elliott b 1805 VA. (according to several postings in forums, most notibly Denis Lawless who has extensive family data on the Lawless/Lollis families)
However, the other day I came across an 1850 census of Madison Township, Johnson County, MO Roll: M432_403; pg 54; Image 109 which shows:
Austin Lawless age 38 b VA Head
Jane Lawless age 36 b TN Wife
Temperance Lawless age 13 b MO Daughter
Alfred age 9 b MO Son
Richard age 7 b MO Son
Tillmon T. age 3 b MO Son
Kesiah T. age 1 b MO Daughter
To me the chances of finding more than one family with those names in on family unit are slim.
Would really like to hear others thoughts on this matter.
