All American Lawless immigrants were probably Anglo-Irish. The first Lawless may have been amoung the Catholic and Presbyterian "Tories", that Oliver Cromwell compelled to go abroad during the 1650's. Nicholas, James, Patrick, Michael, and cornelius Lawless settled in Virginia no later than 1698, 1701 1703, 1718 and 1715 Respectively. The above men were probably related perhaps Cousins or brothers. Michael Lawless may have been the father of them.
