Lavoisier Family from France
Hello!
I am researching my Lavoisier family that came from France. My dates are very sketchy.
Jean-Antoine Lavoisier married Emilie Punctis in France bef. 1700.As far as I can find, they came from a rich and influential family but were not of the noble class.Jean-Antoine was a parliamentary counsel.I think they came from the area of Blois.
They had at least 2 sons, Pierre and Antoine-Laurent.Antoine was the discoverer of the oxygen molecule revolutionilzed the science field and for that wasguillotined on 8 May, 1794 during the French Revolution. He did marry but never had children.
Pierre married Marie Ann Rupes and became the last provincial governor on the island of St. Lucia in the West Indies before it was turned over to the British. They had a daughter named Marie Ann Gouliard Lavoisier (1800-1822).She married a man named William Coit du Bocage (1799-1819).
Would like to hear from anyone!
Warmly,
Sara Greer
