Another minor item...New Madrid County apparently didn't exist in 1802. Neither did Knox County. They were both under other names. Knox County, I believe, was called Madison county and convered most of Illinois and Indiana into Michigan as a county. It was VERY large. Wabash County didn't exist, either as Madison County went all the way past the Wabash River into Indiana and was controlled by a small American fort near Edwardsville, IL. So, this begs the question, why did the writer you're quoting list the counties as official sources and how could the records be changed or unaltered if those counties didn't exist. History is wonderful, isn't it?
