Hi,
I am searching for my ggrandmother Louise/a LaVigne's ancestors.Louise was b. abt. 1971 in Winooski, VT, daughter of Henry LaVigne, b. August 1851 in Vermont, and Marie Desanges Viens, b. May 1852, we believe in St. Marie de Monnoir, Rouville, PQ, Canada.
We have unconfirmed information that Henry LaVigne's parents were Henri Brodeur dit LaVigne, b. July 24, 1817 in Varennes, Vercheres, Quebec, and Francoise Diamo dit Beausoleil, born June 23, 1819, in St. Jean-Baptiste, Rouville, Quebec, and that they had 11 children between 1842 and 1861:
Antoine, Henry, Joseph (all 3 died in infancy), Joseph W., Moise, Marie Cesarie, my gggrandfather Henry, Clara, Philomene, Louisa and Mary Jane.
The first 6 children up to my Henry were born in St. Damase, St. Hyacinthe, Quebec, and the last 5 were born in Chittenden, VT, USA.
Henry's daughter, my ggrandmother, Louise LaVigne married Albert Sheppard in Rutland VT on Jan 7, 1889.They had 2 children, my grandfather Albert Henri Oscar Sheppard, b. July 15, 1889, and George Albert Sheppard, b. December 19, 1890. Louise died that same day and the boys were seperated, my grandfather Albert was raised in Canada (by LaVignes?), and his brother George was raised by Sheppards in Winooski, VT.
Any help or direction you could provide would be deeply appreciated!
