Hi! I was beginning to think My ancestor had no parents! I'm looking for a John B. Lavey. He worked on a river boat between Louisville and New Orleans. He seems to have died under some mysterious circumstances and when his wife went to "take care of his business" she became ill and died. They left three boys John Ermine (my ancestor) Henry and Oliver Augusta (he later changed his name to John O. Lavey. The boys were young (between 7-12) and were placed in an orphanage- from there they were farmed out to who ever would take them. There were no Laveys in Louisville at the time and the three boys were separated. John ended up in Harrison Co., IN, Henry became a priest and Oliver "John" ended up in KY. Hope some of this connects. Thanks for your reply! Barb
