Hi Daniel,

My name is Ken Lavery and I too had a great grandfather who came from Ireland to work in the coal mines of durham. His name was daniel also and he must have arrived in the mid 1800's as my grandfather was born in 1880 in Spennymoor. He had other sons but I don't know where they lived. Sadly he seems to have been a bit of a rogue and was disowned by his offspring who were staunch Salvationists. Consequently no one knows what happened to him. He has one living grandson in Spennymoor(my uncle George)and a number of us great grandchildren spread all round the country. Us 'kids'would like to know more about where he originated but we have little or nothing to go on.

Any suggestions would be most welcome.

Cheers,

Ken Lavery
