My father's maternal grandfather was Michael Lavelle, b. 1861, (in Ireland) m. abt 1886 : Bridget (maiden name unk) b. 1864 (Ireland) they both immigrated in 1882. They began their married life in Scranton, PA where several of their children were born. They lived in Pittsburgh, PA ( 1900 census) with 8 of their 8 living children: Mary b. Dec 1877, Patrick b. 1889 ( was a boxer "Patsy" and moved to Galveston, TX area later in life), Martin b. 1890, Jane b. July 4, 1891 ( my grandmother ), Michael b. 1893, Catharina b. 1895, Margaret b. 1896, and Bridget b. Jun 1899. Sometime after the 1900 census the mother died & younger children were put in an orphanage possibly the Pgh area. My father didn't know anything else so I'm searching for someone who knows anything... Michael (the son) is buried at Calvary Cemetery, Pgh, PA. Catharina married ( first name unk ) McDermott. Margaret married an Enright and also a Templeton. Bridget married a "Mac" Magee. Michael the father died abt 1936 at Mayview State Hospital.
