I have a connection to Lavallee and to Woonsocket but I think it's probably coincidence - but you never know.
My husband's family is Lavallee from the Iberville (Ste-Jean and Ste-Athanase) area in Quebec. My husband's great great grandfather, Alexandre Lavallee came to the US aroung 1881 but moved to Worcester, MA.At some point he actually changed his name (or his sons did) to Lovely. My husband's father and grandfather were both born in Worcester but my husband (coincidentally?) was born in Woonsocket, RI.How or why the family ended up in Woonsocket I'm not exactly sure.I know that Alexander Lavallee/Lovely had two daughters that ended up in Providence, RI under married names. My Lavallees may be cousins to your Lavallees . . . you may also look around for Lovely's in Woonsocket, RI.
Purely by luck, I was able to trace my Lavallee line back to Mathurin Paquet dit Lavallee who was born in 1620 in Vendee, Montaigu, France and came to Canada in 1665.
If you think any of my information may be helpful, I'm more than happy to share.Email me at [email protected]
