Hello Wayne,

My wife is a Laurent, and her family goes back to St. John the Baptist Parish.

The earliest Laurent that we know of was Simon Francois who died Aug. 23, 1785 in New Orleans. My wife descends from him through his son Jean Louis, born Aug. 25, 1761 in NO, died Mar 6, 1838 in NO.

From Jean Louis she descends through his son Laurent Jean Laurent, born Sep. 5, 1789 in St. John died Mar. 31, 1877, also in St. John.

Then from Laurent Jean Laurent's son Justin Benjamin, born Aug. 8, 1819 in St. John; Roselius Felix, born 1819 in St. John; Leopold Maurice, born 1884 in St. John, died Dec. 1966 in St. John.

Leopold was my wife's paternal grandfather.

Unfortunately, I do not find a Daniel in this Laurent family, but I'll bet there's kinship somewhere in there.
