I'm Art Laurenson - father Arthur (Sr.) - grandfather Peter Scott - great grandfather Magnus.
I'm not real sure of the family history but I do know our family is originally from Shetland and is related to Laurence of Lerwick - a poet of some note (though I've never read his works) - We do have family in Shetland and I believe one is the Harbormaster in Lerwick - there is also Rae Laurenson in Edminton, Alberta Canada. We have some documentation of the family farm that existed in 1734 (i think). I know Magnus had many brothers and sisters (I've heard up to 10). Yvette Longstaff in Salt Lake City, Utah contacted us several years ago and was tracing the family tree (her family belongs to the Mormons). She had quite a bit of information.

From what I've been told over the years, pretty much anyone spelling the name LAURENSON is related BUT there may have been two separate families of Laurensons in Shetland in 1734, so who really knows.

I did meet a cousin in England in 1973 - John Bruce-Inches Laurenson - apparently Bruce-Inches came from a female family member and John got the name to carry it on.
That's about it for now - I'll try to get more info from my father and pass it on - Art
