Sharon, I'm just finding this. Do you know what happened to the sons of Daniel Laughman, Sr.? Did they by any chance disappear or move to Philadelphia?
I have been trying to research my LACKMAN ancestors for some years. They were well established in the Germantown part of Philadelphia from 1840 through 1930. But before 1840 they appear not to be in Philadelphia. The pattern of given names for three generations includes: Christian, John, and John Daniel. These three names dominate the family and are repeated for several generations. Is is possible that your LAUGHMANs from the 1770s are the same as the LACKMANs from the 1840s? I am most keen to find Christian Lackman who was born in 1811 in Pennsylvania and appears in the 1840, 1850, 1860, and 1870 censuses for Germantown Township, Philadelphia County, which was subsumed into the City of Philadelphia in 1851. I am anxious to hear your thoughts. -Jim
