My greatgreat great grandfather was James Edward Laughlin b. Dec. 04,, 1848 in Joplin , Missouri. His parents were JM Laughlin (have heard Joseph or James) m. Jane Ellen Pool b. 1828 in Ill. JM was a freighter They were in New Albany, KS by late 1850s and census lists several of James Edwards siblings as being born in Missouri. James Edward's first wife (we know of) was Dora Rice. Family tradition has it that Jane or Dora or both were part Indian. Does any of this ring a bell with your missouri families?
