My 3x Great Grandfather is listed in the St. Charles County Missouri census 1840 as "Born in Bavaria" but no mention of where in Bavaria. His son William Lauer also from St. Charles County, the town of Defiance, Missouri is my 2x Great Grandfather. Williams son Arthur Lauer is my Great Grandfather who was also from St. Charles County, the town of Harvester, Missouri.
I know that the family belonged to the UCC in Defiance, MO at one time and that William and his wife as well as one son are buried in the church cemetary.
If anyone has any information on what town John came from in Bavaria it would be most appreciated.
