Hello Arturs,
Sadly I dont have alot of information on my fathers time in Latvia.I dont know the names of any of my uncles or grandmother..
My father was in the German Navy, he was a ships engineer.I dont know where or when..He and my mother met after the war ended in southern Germany where he had friends that had settled in Einod and he went to visit. I still have relatives in the area and have asked if they know of anyone still alive that may have known my father from Latvia, but none they can find.
I dont know when or where he attended University in Riga, other then my mother remembers seeing his diploma with an engineering degree..He was born in 1918, so not sure at what age he may have gone..
There are not marks on picture, the back side is like a postcard.. I will scan and email to you.I also just found a picture of my grandmother and uncle that we sent to Siberia, I will also scan those since they have writing on the back..
thank you so much for the translations..
All the friends of my father died many years ago,I asked my mother if there still may be anyone left in the USA or Germany that may have known him from Latvia, but she believes they have all passed on.
I will be in Latvia from August 19-29..we plan to spend most ofour time in Riga, my son is a Navy Pilot (on his way home from Afghanistan)and during a visit to Latvia a few years ago with the Navy he made some friends in Ventspils , so sometime during our stay we will be visiting Ventspils also..
Off and on over the years I have tried to find information about my fathers family..Its very frustrating not having any paperwork to go from other then the ships manifest when my parents and sister arrive in New York and a copy of his naturalization card. that is ALL I have for paperwork sad to say.,. and neither give any more information than I what I have.
Again I can not thank you enough for your help..
Sincerely,
Renate
