Hello Agnija It is good of you to reply and take an interest. My family line was Irish until John Nelson (born at sea 1834) but apparently Danish (from Census record) married my Irish G/G/Grandmother Maria McKenna. Their eldest daughter, Barbara Jane married Frederick Mitchelson. In each case, the marriage certificate is the first real information I have on these men and the names have been anglicised. John's father was Henry (Henrik) a Mariner, and Frederick's father was John, a Labourer. John and Frederick were mariners and they were staying with the Bride's family at the time of their marriages, so there were no clues as to their own home addresses. A cousin told me that Frederick was a Ships' Carpenter from Latvia. He said Frederick was orphaned when he was quite young and brought up by his sisters. Unfortunately, this cousin has not replied to my communications of late, and I am desperately trying to make contact again to try to get further information - perhaps an area of Latvia, or the real spelling of the name. My email is IOANDIZ@aol.com if you prefer to email direct. I would be very happy to keep in touch Lynda PS I am impressed that you have three languages and - your English is very good !
