I'm in the process of researching and writing about Medal of Honor recipients from Finland.
One of them has the name John Eglit:

In the census and the military records claims he is born in Finland by Finnish parents.
But at one point he has a mother Eva Eglit in Riga as his next of kin. He had a brother by the name Charles or Karl also living in America.
Any suggestions a most welcome.
