I am looking for information on my great grandfather, John Tugrendreich Ratzlaff, and his family before he immigrated to the U.S. According to a 1942 draft card, he lived in Park Ridge, Bergen County, NJ. He was born July 9, 1893 in Koronuvka, Russia. (I think this might be Kurenevka, in Kiev, Ukraine as family oral tradition states that this part of the family came from Kiev.) However, I also have 1930 census data stating that he was born in Germany. John died in 1951.
John was married to Marie Ann(e) Sachs, who was born in Kulbach, Germany. She died in 1992 in New Jersey.
In 1942, John owned his own barber shop in Park Ridge and in 1930 he was a barber, although I do not know if he owned his own shop at that time.
John and Marie had one son, Herbert J(ohn) Ratzlaff, who was born in 1931 and died in 1999.
John also had a brother, Otto, who was born in Latvia about 1903/1904.
Any more information would be greatly appreciated.
