Hi Steve

I am doing a friend a favour in looking for some of her family history.

Her paternal grandfather, William ANGEL, married Ellen Augusta LATTER in Ticehurst, 2nd Quarter 1897.

The 1881 census gives:
Charles Latter 35, Agricultural Labourer, born Wadhurst, Sussex.
Harriet Latter 36, born Mayfield, Sussex.
Frank Latter 13, Agricultural Labourer, born Mayfield, Sussex.
Ellen Augusta Latter 6, Scholar, born Ticehurst, Sussex.
Sidney Enoch Latter 4.

The 1851 census gives Elen's Grandparents, aunts & Uncles, and her dad as:
1851 census
Reuben Latter 39, Ag. Lab.
Sarah Latter 36
Alfred W Latter 13, Ag. Lab.
Silvy Latter 12
Charity Latter 10
Sarah A Latter 8
Charles Latter 5
William Latter 3
George Latter 10 Mo
ALL born in Wadhurst!
All living in Frankham Lodge [with another family], and working for John Guess, farmer employing 4 labourers on Frankland Farm, 219 acres.

Do any of these connect with your Sussex Laters?

Best wishes

Malcolm Bland
