Today I purchased a second RPPC of the same woman from the same museum gift shop in Alameda, CA. This one is undated and not postally used. It was addressed by "Midge," referring to her "smiling counternance," to her "Grandpa," Mr. J. P. Latta, Waterloo. IA. I found John P. and his wife Sophia, both born in OH, listed in the 1910 Census data for Waterloo, Black Hawk Co., IA. The couple had been married 44 years, had 9 children, 6 of which were still living. I found this couple listed in the 1870 Census data for Sheridan, Linn Co., KS, living with three children (presumably theirs)--James S. (age 3), Alcesta (age 2), and Jemina (age 7 months). I found them listed in the 1900 Census data for Morning Sun, Louisa Co., IA, living with son Fred G. (age 20) and daughter Ninie G. (age 17).
