Reba: I think we talked about this Peter before. I have a picture of his grave marker in Union, Broome County, NY. But, it will not post here. It reads Peter LaTourrette Who died Jan. 23, 1831 Aged 76 yrs 6 mos 6 days which matches a birth date of July 17, 1754. Note the use of the double "r" which was the original spelling in Osse, Bearn and which Jean Latourrette used when he signed the Registers at the French Church of NY. I also have a carbon copy of a story written about him by Mrs. Verna Jacob ca 1950s, in which she discusses his exploits as a guerrilla against the British on Staten Island during the Revolution, operating from Woodbridge, NJ. I think there is enough info here to track him through newspaper accounts of the time, but he may not have ever officially enlisted in the Revolutionary Army. Certainly, from Mrs. Jacob's account he is a Revolutionary figure deserving recognition. She also talks about his migration to the Binghamton area of NY after the war, where he is buried. I cannot make a good copy to send electronically on my various photo programs, but can make a hard copy to send you. Send your e-mail address to me, including where to mail you a hard copy. I can send the gravestone picture electronically right away with a description of its location. jlatour7@commspeed.net John E. La Tourette Notify Administrator about this message?
