Hi Glen,
Thanks for the post. I would be interested in this information. Funny thing is that I was going through some papers this weekend and came across an obituary dated December 2001 I had clipped out of a Carol LaTourrette who died at age 56 in Orange County, CA where I reside. I did not know how she was connected to this family, so I kept the clipping in case I would figure it out in the future. I was doing some digging today and I think I figured it all out, she was married to a LaTourrette who apparently is still living here in Orange County (I will not include his name here since he is apparently living). I did research on him and he had a Charles LaTourrette living with him at one time and assume he is his father. Back in 1999 I clipped another obituary for a Lyman Dalton LaTourette who again, I did not know how he was connected to the family but died in Orange County. I did figure out who this Lyman was, and he was a grandson of James Thomas LaTourrette, his father had the same name of Lyman and came out to Los Angeles about 1919. Lyman Jr. had a brother named Charles who was born in LA but later moved to Chandler AZ, his wife died in 1998, and I am thinking that he must have moved to CA to be with his son. This LaTourrette and his wife Carol had three daughters and four grandchildren as of 2001, I believe they still reside in the Orange County area.
The big tip off is the spelling of their name with the double r, which only a few branches use and most stem from Jean’s son Henry whose family left Staten Island while we used the old spelling and apparently retained it (some braches of his family). Those who remained on Staten Island and the neighboring areas later dropped the double r including my own (we spelled it Latourette and not the sometimes used LaTourette – the small “t” is also considered part of the old spelling).
If you provide me with your e-mail address I can provide you with the line of this family as I know it now, you can send me an e-mail to [email protected] I prefer not to divulge information of living members of this family on this forum. With this information you can help me fill in the blanks of missing or incorrect information. I know several of James T. LaTourrette’s children went to CA and OR, the last information I have on Cora is that she was in a directory in 1915, so do not know when she died. I have death information on only their sons Lyman and Emery, both who I have dying in CA.
Are you connected to this family? My relationship is rather distant since I descend from Jean and Marie’s son Jean and this family from their son Henry.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
