Dear cousin David,

Thank you for replying to one of my postings. I actually have information on you and your line. I probably obtained some of it off the web someplace or perhaps we corresponded in the past? I have a note that you were born in California, are you still living in CA? I live in Orange Co., which is in So. California. Not sure if you read any of my other postings over the years, I started researching my La Tourette family in 1983 when I was 20, and been doing so off and on ever since. Thankfully I had an interest early on so I was able to ask my grandparents, parents and other relatives before the information was lost. My dad's cousin Maretta (nee La Tourette) in now in her 80's and was very helpfull and still is. Recently she assisted in giving me some small clues that lead to some exciting information on my Wheeler family (Marette, her grandmother, married Paul La Tourette - her father was also Paul La Tourette - and her great grandfather was also a Paul - her great great great grandfather also Paul)

Anyway, I did obtain a copy of the La Tourette Annals in America a few years ago through Higginson Book Co. for about $45.00 or so (hard back). At first I just concentrated on just my La Tourette family, but now I have expanded it to entering just about any name I can find combing through the US census records, SS Death Index, Obits, message boards, books, etc. etc. I do have some lines I am currently unable to connect to the tree to Jean and Marie. I am in no way saying I am a professional geneaologist, I still have a thing to learn or two. I have also discovered several La Tourette's who have came over from France or through Candada over the last century and a half. So not all la Tourette's in America are decendants of Jean and Marie - very interesting - and perhaps we are all form the same family somehow. I discovered a web site from a man in France, who has lines on the La Tourette siblings of Jean decending for about two hundred years - many stayed in Osse, some went to other parts of the world. One memeber gong to New Orleans in the 1700's.

I enter all my Geneology info on the Family Tree Maker software. I have entered almost 12,000 names in all my branches with over 2,000 surnames.

I belive I received information on your father and show a death date of March 1980, but no day. Probably obtained this from the SSDI? And did he die in Portage, Porter Co., IN? But I have you being born in CA? Is this wrong? I also do not have the marrige place of your parents, nor your mother's birth place, death place and date of death.

The 1920 census for your grandparents is really hard to read and could not get his occupation or the birth date/state info on your grandmother Mable. Do you know when your grandparents died and where? And where they were married?

Please let me know if you want to exchange additional information, I am more than willing to do so.

Thank you,

P.S. We are related this way: 6th cousins twice removed and also 7th cousins twice removed.
