Carlene, thank you for the follow up regarding George W. Latham. I would like very much to see what you have. Since my initial post, I traveled to Russellville, Ky in Logan county adjacent to Todd county and purchased Mr. A.B. Whilhite’s book on the descendants of Elijah Latham. My original intent was to piece together the connections and families of the men in the 25th Kentucky Regiment (Union) in the Civil War. They were all or most from Todd County though my ancestor had just moved to Logan County. Logan was apparently a southern leaning area and the Confederate state government of Kentucky met there to elect a governor.
The Latham and Shelton families were quite close at the time. William Shelton who died in the war was the grandson of Squire Latham. Oral family history of William was that the trek to enlist at Hopkinsville, Ky was a dangerous journey. I like to think that William and young George made the trip together.
