Hi Richard,

Thank you for responding to my query. Yes, I think we are referring to the same Tom Lasater. Was he born about 1860? I donít know much about him, only that he was referred to in the affidavit as Thomas J. Lasater, and signed his affidavit (T.J. Lasater) for my g,g,grandmother, Nancy A. Mcelroy Gibbs, so she could get a pension from the Army, for her deceased husband, John C. Gibbs. I think he may have been her son-in-law. He gave his affidavit to the same notary public, and on the same day as another son-in-law, Martin Luther Shaffer, who was married to another daughter, Sally Gibbs. Do you know if your Tom Lasater was married to a Jenny Gibbs, before he married Miranda? Do you have the names of the children from his prior marriage? How are you related to him? I am a descendant of Jenny Gibbsí sister, Emma M. Gibbs who married Hallie Henry Cook. Thanks, Cindi
