Sharon and Bob, it's been a while, but I have found some more information on our Hance Laster.In 1860 census, he is listed as Thomas Hance Laster, so he had changed his name from Lassiter to Laster by 1860. Also, in the 1860 slave records, he had 6 slaves.
Cival war records show him in the 22 NC Infantry.
Moses Lassiter is not his father as I thought, but I do believe there is a family connection, just not sure what that might be.
Bob, I have Angus Monroe Laster as your grandfather's full name.
