As hard as it may be to believe there were actually two men named King Hiram Lasley. The one you are referring to here, Mr. Cole, was born in 1866 in Schuyler County, MO.Presumably in Spickard, MO., as that is where most of the descendants of Nelson Lasley (my gr, gr, great grandfather) settled after they moved out of Indiana.
The other King Hiram Lasley, was your King Hiram's father. He, the elder King H. Lasley, was born on Jan. 8, 1830, in Crawford County, Indiana and he died on Feb. 22, 1892, in Schuyler County, MO.
Your grandfather, Frederick Conn Lasley, was a son of the younger King Hiram Lasley. And you probably know that he was born on Nov. 19, 1908.However, I do not know where he was born.
I believe that your King Hiram Lasley (the younger one) died in November of 1934, presumably in Albany, Linn County, OR.I say that because there is an obituary record of a man by that name (King Hiram Lasley) whose obituary appeared in the Albany Democrat-Herald newspaper on Nov. 24, 1934, in Albany, OR.However, I believe that prior to that he lived in Olympia, Thurston County, WA.
Prior to that he did live in Seattle, King Co., WA.In fact a sone of his by the name of Roy Hiram Lasley is buried there (in King County). That son died quite young, at the age of only 14, on Sep. 1, 1910 and he is buried in the Lake View Cemetery in Seattle, King Co., WA.
Your mother's grandfather, King Hiram Lasley (the younger) was the 7th (known) child of King Hiram Lasley (the elder) and his wife Sarah Elisa Phillips.
King Hiram Lasley (the elder) was buried in the Fabius Cemetery near Lancaster, MO., in Schuyler County. And he was also the second eldest known son of my gr, gr, great grandather. The eldest child was my gr, great grandfather William Alexander Lasley b. Nov. 17, 1826 in Crawford County, Indiana. However William's mother, Jane Stull, apparently died soon after giving birth to William and Nelson was remarried to Sarah Jane Payton (parents unknown). She was the mother of your King Hiram Lasley as well as all of the other known children of Nelson Lasley.
Nelson Lasley was born on April 9, 1806 somewhere in the State of Kentucky (according to census records) and he died on August 1, 1887, in Schuyler County, MO.He and his (2nd) wife (who died in 1890) presumably were buried on their farm property. The "old Lasley farm" was located on land that, as of a few years ago, was owned by a man named Mike Gray. The last Lasley who lived there was an Alice Lasley. The property is located South of Lancaster, MO., via Route U to Otto Schmitter Rd.Left on that road and the "old Lasley farm" is located about 1.5 to 2 miles down on that road.Hope that helps some.
