I am seeking information on the following CLAIBORNE Co TN family connections:
WILLIAM LASLEY (b c 1824 TN/d aft 1865, bef Apr 1869 TN)
who married ELIZABETH CRABTREE (b c 1822 TN/d aft 1870, bef 1880 in Claiborne Co TN)
WILLIAM LASLEY & ELIZABETH CRABTREE were married, probably in Claiborne Co TN by 1848; this family migrated to Roane Co TN by 1850 census; to Cumberland Co TN by 1860 census. They had, at least, 8 children: [Elizabeth] Darcus (1848); Frank Jasper (1850)m Hanna J. McGlothen; Joseph A. (1853); Manda C. (1855)m Jourdon Welch; Sarah Anice (1856); [Priscilla] Angaline (1859) had 2 children out-of-wedlock: William Lasley (1877) & Betsey A. Lasley (Dec 1879); Emily [Amelia/Emela/Emilley] (1864); William (1865) m Harriet E.
Following WILLIAM LASLEY'S death his widow, ELIZABETH (CRABTREE) LASLEY returned to Claiborne Co TN where she married secondly, 08 April 1869 Claiborne Co TN, THOMAS RILEY (b c 1842-1844 TN/d c 1899 Claiborne Co TN [not on 1900 census]). Thomas Riley, and Elizabeth (Crabtree) Lasley Riley had no children. Following Elizabeth's death, Thomas Riley, step-father of the Lasley children, continued to raise his step-children.
In December 1880, Claiborne Co TN, THOMAS RILEY married secondly, ELIZABETH CATHERINE NORTON (a single woman who had 2 children born out-of-wedlock: Elizabeth A. "Betsey" "Ollie" Norton, called "Ollie" Riley (b 1879) & James W. Norton (b 1880), called James Riley in 1900, called James Norton therafter.)
THOMAS RILEY and ELIZABETH CATHERINE (NORTON) RILEY, d/o Jackson & Susan [Susannah] Norton, had children: Susan Ann (b Sep 1881)m Charles Oscar Welch; William "Will" "Bill"; John; Martin Luther (d age 7).
Is anyone familiar with these Claiborne Co TN families?
Who is this THOMAS RILEY? [He is not the son of John Riley (b c 1817 TN) & Louiza Gibson (b c 1824 TN).]
What happened to William Riley and John Riley? [One is rumored to have died at age 17, and one died at age 19. One was rumored to have died of a gunshot wound from a hunting accident. One was rumored to have died from a gunshot wound when his pistol fell from his pocket and discharged, striking him and killing him. One rumor says one of these young men was murdered: while riding the train to (or from) work in the mines near Clear Fork, he was assaulted by two men, robbed, and thrown off the train onto the tracks where, severally injured, he was struck and killed by a later train.] These incidents occurred between 1900 & 1920.
