Peter Lesle or Listly left the area of Halle, Germany & came on the ship Allen with with his wife & 6 siblings, arriving at the Port of Philadelphia on September 11, 1729 as a member of the congregation of Church of the Brethren with Alexander Mack as their leader or Elder who was also on board that ship. See for this information. There are 4 lists of these Immigrants, each one different as to who was on the ship. The fourth list has a John Leslie on it whereas the first 3 lists do not. The Leslie's are of Scottish ancestry & may have been involved in the Thirty Years War (1618-1648) as mercenaries or perhaps were booted out of Scotland at an earlier date because of their political activities. Peter & Anna Catarina Lesle are my ancestors, too. They lived in Germantown, Pennsylvania & also were a part of the Ephrata Cloister. Peter died on April 11, 1734 at the Cloister & is buried there. I have a list of his Inventory of his Estate written on February 1, 1735. His son Peter was born in 1731 & married Susannah Walther on January 18, 1749 at Warwick, Lancaster County, Pa. He & his wife Susannah had 11 children & moved to the area of Washington County, Pa. ca. 1774/5, where he wrote his will in January, 1796; a codicil in 1802 because of the death of his son Valentine; & his will was proved on September 29, 1804. Valentine married & had 2 children, John born in 1793 & Susan born in 1800. After he died, his wife married Abner Keith in 1804 & moved to Ohio. I descend through the oldest son of Peter & Susannah (Walther) Leslie, David who married Magdalena Caylor on September 25, 1809 in Montgomery County, Ohio.

I am currently researching these Leslie's & write a quarterly newsletter about them. I would appreciate hearing from anyone whose has an interest in this family.
