Sebastian Lasher's Family of Origin

I have written a new 50 page softcover booklet on Sebastian Lasher's family of origin that was just published by Picton Press. The booklet can be ordered on the web at http://www.pictonpress.com/store/show/3543 or by calling 1.207.596.7766. The title is "Johann Sebastian ... Lasher His Swiss Heritage and 1710 arrival in New York". The cost is $14.95. It might be a good holiday gift for anyone in the family who has an interest in our Lasher family ancestry. The book identifies Sebastian's parents and siblings, his parents place of origin and the origin of the family name in the mid 1200s. It also documents the family's journey to America and provides a critical review of the family's composition after their arrival in Colonial New York.

I am also in the process of completing an updated genealogy on the first four generations of Sebastian descendants in America. This work will include new research that will build on and make corrections and additions to the 1904 "Lasher Genealogy" by Alfred Lasher and the 1982 "Lasher Lineage" by Eileen Lasher Powers. This genealogy will follow both the male and female lines of Sebastian Lasher. If anyone has any "primary" data on the early Lasher family lines that has not been included in the earlier Lasher genealogies I would be interested in reviewing it for possible inclusion in this next Lasher genealogy.

At this time of Thanksgiving I hope that we can take a moment to pause and give thanks to Sebastian and his family for the tremendous sacrifice they made that enabled us to be born and live in this great land of freedom and opportunity.

Have a great holiday season....
John W. Lasher
