I noticed a Arthur Fulgence Prefontaine married to a Mary-Elphege Paul listed in your message:
"Children of PIERRE* PAUL and MARIE-ROSALIE* VALIN are:
i. MARY-ELPHEGE*7 PAUL, b. 10 May 1870, Northampton, Hampshire Co., Mass.160; d. 03 April 1962, Greenfield, Franklin Co., Mass.161; m. (1) ARTHUR JOSEPH* STRAHAN, 07 September 1891, St. Anne's Church, Turners Falls, Montague, Mass.162; b. 17 April 1870, Turners Falls, Montague, Franklin Co., Mass.162; d. 17 January 1892, Turners Falls, Montague, Franklin Co., Mass.162; m. (2) ARTHUR FULGENCE PREFONTAINE, 29 December 1923, Greenfield, Franklin Co., Mass.163; b. Abt. 1883; d. 1941."
I came across your message while trying to search for the descendants of the brother of my g-g-grandfather. The family had left Upton, Quebec around 1867 and went thru Westbrook, ME (found descendants of a sister there) before settling in Greenfield, MA. After a number of years, most of the family moved to southern Manitoba, however one of the sons returned to Greenfield, MA to finish his medical studies. I am told that he practiced medecin there untilhis death in 1905. I have no information whether he ever married and had a family, but he may have.
His name was Louis-Aurele Prefontaine, but he may have been known simply as Aurele Prefontaine. He was born around 1867 in St-Ephrem-d'Upton, QC to Firmin Prefontaine & Mathilde Desautels. I am wondering if he might be a grandpfather of Arthur Fulgence Prefontaine. Doo you have any additional info on either of these two individuals that might connect the two names?
