I will be very greatful if you could supply reference source or text regarding Larter meaning 'liar'. I have an English ref that states Larter comes from the 'Lyrtis People' - lyrty meaning to cheat or lie, but there are some doubts about this. The Larter Family History Society, are among other things, investigating the origin/s of the surname Larter. There's an interesting page on this very subject that can be found on their web page at:
